Does Pace Matter?

How fast I run varies depending on so many things including how much sleep Iโ€™ve had which often with a young baby is very little, what I have eaten which often includes chocolate, what time of the day it is, how much time I have, what the weather is like outside. In the past Iโ€™d say Iโ€™ve had a luxury of looking outside and deciding whether I fancy going outside for a run or not. Now I get one chance to workout outside a day. Iโ€™m going to make it out and Iโ€™m going to make it count ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿฝ

For me that doesnโ€™t mean hitting a personal best or doing the run so quickly that I feel sick, drenched and battered which I have done in the past. I need this run to prepare me for the rest of the day. My family needs me to be on form so right now nothing matters but health. I find this a beautiful thing not to over stress my body but workout in a moderate and healthy way ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿผ

We have heard from some of Team GB over the past couple of days, they too are to #stayhome ๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡ง I canโ€™t imagine the blow this must be for the athletes ๐Ÿฅ‡ To have dreams and goals for themselves. Ones that are once in a lifetime opportunities and to have their training disrupted by a world pandemic. It just shows that these athletes who we watch on our tv screens or go to see in person if we are lucky, who we see as super humans are not above this virus nor out of reach. ๐Ÿฆ

Each of our daily lives are impacted in ways that we could never have imagined. This can take a real toll and it can be hard to be out of routine. Iโ€™ll talk more about this in another post.

Training to Achieve a Pace

Personal bests are something I used to chase quite literally. It can be exciting and thrilling to meet a challenge you set yourself. If thatโ€™s what gets your juices flowing then great. Set yourself a goal. Pick a distance to run and try to shorten the time you run it in day by day. If you are looking for something to achieve while on Corona Leave this could be it ๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธ

Iโ€™m not sure at the moment what I am aiming for and I choose to just focus on the benefits I gain from the runs at this time which are mostly a healthy body and a healthy mind ๐Ÿง˜๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธ

Running after birth isnโ€™t always a possibility and so I am grateful and careful each time I step out ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿผ

What really matters right now is health. If you can have a bit of healthy competition with yourself thatโ€™s ok but please do the running for you. We need to be a strong nation. Iโ€™m loving no personal bests, no time to beat, no trackers ๐Ÿ˜‰
