Running in the Rain πŸ’¦

Will you or will you not… Running in the rain is all about the mental state. In fact, a lot about running relies on a strong mental state.

Running a marathon takes hours. 2 if you are world champion level, around 3 and a half if you are super fit, and then 4-6 hours with good training. Those hours are without rest, they are mostly alone and they are mostly without much food. This takes immense strength and mental energy. Last Sunday was supposed to be the 2020 London Marathon. Due to the Coronavirus outbreak the race has been postponed until 4th October 2020 (first days Sukkot btw).

I cannot imagine the feeling of training through the winter to find that your race is postponed and that your focus has been delayed by six months. All that we can do is re-focus. I was not signed up to this year’s marathon as I am almost 8 months postpartum. I would have loved to have run an October marathon – training through the summer is a dream for me but sadly not meant to be as I will be sitting in my sukkah!

I respect those who had the mental strength to run laps around their gardens or driveways for 26.2 miles!!! I struggle to run the same route twice let alone lapping my garden or driveway for 26.2 miles so serious respect.

Our mental strength has been tested tremendously during this pandemic and the weather is giving us another one. So lets rise to the test, keep turning up, face the rain and I am sure that we will find that it is not as bad as we anticipate and that the rain can be very calming, especially when we are under it πŸ‘ŠπŸ»
